Waxwork being remade. A blessing or a curse?
Today I received word that my all time favorite movie of all time Waxwork (1988) may be next on the remake chopping block. Now I'm trying not to get too nervous since there are so many movies that were supposed to be remade but are stuck in development Hell. I try not to get too upset over the whole remake thing since the facts are simple. Whatever happens, I will always have my original Waxwork (1988) and Waxwork II Lost In Time (1992) Both films of which mean a lot to me. Sadly fans get so mad at the thought of their precious original films being touched, they forget that no matter what happens the original will always and forever be the original.
Also let's not forget that there are some truly awesome kick ass remakes. The Thing, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, The Fly, Dawn Of The Dead, The Hills Have Eyes ect. There are also remakes that aren't even close to being as awesome as the original but nevertheless still enjoyable to watch. I can only hope now that I heard Hickox gave the film his blessing that they bring something new to the table while paying tribute to the original. (Who knows maybe cameos by Zach Galligan aka Mark Loftmore and Deborah Foreman aka Sarah Brightman.) I did roll my eyes when I read an article saying it would be like Cabin In The Woods. God help us all.
Still I'm staying positive since my main goal is to see the first two movies get the blu-ray treatment they deserve. So maybe this curse is really a blessing! We'll see!
